Buying tickets

General Admission tickets can be purchased online.

General Admission tickets also available at Flinders Street, Southern Cross and North Melbourne railway stations, closer to the event.

It is likely tickets will sell out as the Melbourne Cup Carnival is one of Australia’s biggest sporting events. Therefore, it is advised to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment.

The General Admission area incorporates the unrestricted areas around the racecourse and provides you with the opportunity to experience racing close to the track from a wide range of vantage points. General admission tickets allow patrons to access all general public areas including public lawn, public betting ring, Undercroft (dining and betting facilities) and public bars.

A General Admission ticket does not entitle the purchaser to a seat within a Grandstand or Corporate Facility and also excludes the purchaser from all Members’ Areas.

Public seating is available on a first-come-first-served basis, on the Ground Level beneath the Lawn Stand in the Undercroft, East End. Alternatively to avoid disappointment, we recommend that you book Reserved Grandstand Seating to secure a seat for the day.
